There's a ton to learn from these amazing screenplays. When expanding the movies, Peter Jackson, Philipa Boyens, and Fran Walsh used portions of the appendices to The Return of the King, which expand on the story told in The Hobbit. They are all based on the 1937 novel The Hobbit by J. The three films are subtitled An Unexpected Journey (2012), The Desolation of Smaug (2013), and The Battle of the Five Armies (2014). The Hobbit is a series of three high-fantasy adventure films directed by Peter Jackson. These are my comfort movies, I can put them on and be swept to a faraway place full of adventure.
The first Hobbit movie came out when I moved to Los Angeles, and I felt like Bilbo's journey mirrored mine.
